About MB Research

Background

Since 1972 , MB Research Laboratories has been conducting acute, subchronic and chronic toxicology and pharmacology studies. Standard studies at MB are designed to meet the requirements of the applicable regulatory agencies, or tailored to meet the specific needs of the sponsor.

With expertise in many areas of in vivo and in vitro testing, research and safety evaluations, MB Research serves the testing needs of the government, pharmaceutical, chemical, and cosmetic industries.

Complete services including consultation, protocol development, quality assurance, and archive facilities are integral components of studies performed at MB. Our technical and support procedures are in full compliance with OECD, FDA and EPA.

Innovation

For over 10 years we have been validating and conducting alternative tests beginning with the Chorioallantoic Membrane Vascular Assay, (CAMVA) followed by the Bovine Corneal Opacity and Permeability Test (BCOP).  MB expanded its in vitro capabilities by offering the Corrositex assay in 1996 as an alternative to dermal corrosivity tests.  In 1997, MB's cell culture and in vitro laboratories began to regularly conduct a variety of assays including cytotoxicity tests, enzyme assays, cytokine and inflammation mediator assays in monolayer cultures and tissue equivalent systems such as MatTek EpiOcularTM, EpiDermTM, and MelanoDermTM.

More recently, MB Research Labs has received a Colgate-Palmolive Grant for Alternative Research to continue the development of PORCORA - Porcine Cornea Opacity/Reversivibility Assay, a Draize rabbit eye irritation alternative designed to quantify the recovery of corneal epithelial cells after exposure to potential eye irritants.
